Exploring the uniqueness of Hinoki Wood #Singapore Blogger

When I was first invited to Akari Dining & Bar for food tasting, I thought it was the usual Japanese restaurant that serves the normal sushi, sashimi and ramen which you can find almost everywhere. To my surprise it wasn’t that simple. The restaurant offers both traditional and contemporary dishes with a twist, what makes it different from the other places that I have tried are the little details and creativity input in each of the dish.

The Japanese braised yam-jelly with starch and original yuzu flavor miso paste is served in the Hinoki wood which produces a strong fragrance. I particularly liked this dish is because it has a unique scent and the combination of the soup makes it so good.  Traditional Japanese fishcakes and yam-jelly are slightly blend, it is best eaten with their tasty miso-paste that makes it more flavoursome.

For my preference, I would recommend having a lobster dish to be steamed or grilled to taste the original freshness of the seafood, Akari did neither but it still taste as good. Why do I say that? Although it is pan-fried, it is not fried till dry but just perfect. An ideal texture of the lobster still retains with the meat tender and moist, the stock is sweet and savory using several lobster heads boiled for long hours.

Another highlight is the chopped mixed sashimi over-float on rolled sushi. Every mouthful contains a burst of different flavours. You can literally taste the mixture of fresh swordfish, tuna, salmon, salmon and various rolls such as crabmeat and avocado. A great choice for people who doesn’t eat sashimi in slices as it is served in cubes.

    1. You are so wrong about food. Raw fish meat is the most healthy food. The meat is serve without added MSG, colorings and preservatives...! Imagine that.
