Sentosa out of this world culinary

Sentosa is a well known tourist attraction, most tourists may not consider dining over there as expensive, but the locals do. Little did they know that there is actually this restaurant called Shu Jiang Grilled Fish that serves tantalizing food at affordable prices. The price is definitely not as ‘atas’ as it looks.

To be honest, I was quite worried the menu will be overpriced at first because of the luxurious looking exterior and interior of the restaurant. Upon stepping in, I was impressed with the intricate design of the surroundings built with displays of underwater animation across the walls. From the furnitures to the ground, it is furnished as a submarine which allows you to experience an ‘underwater’ adventure. With such an attractive dining concept, the taste of the food is needless to say.

We were recommended to try the braised bamboo charcoal beancurd with oyster sauce. It is made from bamboo charcoal, home-made beancurd and spinach, all done from scratch. The chef makes an effort to combine the two flavours together, finding the right combination is not easy but he did it. The beancurd is soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside, just the right texture.

The fragrance of the white truffle oil is irresistible! I can smell it even before it is served to us.  Most of the restaurants will choose to use black truffle instead of white truffle because of the price point, but the chef insisted to use a better grade of truffle so as to serve the best for their customers. Even the simplest noodle taste like a premium dish when white truffle is added.

One of my favourite desserts is the almond cream, but it is quite difficult now to find places where they sell hand-ground almonds, most people will use almond powder instead because it is cheaper and easier to make. When I knew they had this dessert I did not hold my hopes high and ordered it. Out of my expectation, the first spoonful was surprising! it is so creamy and smooth that I had to ask the chef how he did it. My taste buds were right, the almonds here are blended repeatedly to achieve that kind of silky smooth texture.
