Humble House Taipei 寒舍艾麗酒店

Choosing the right hotel to stay when travelling is essential, I need a good place to rest after a long day outside. The trip to Taiwan this time is to do a studio recording for my new song with Billy Koh (许环良), Asia’s top music producer. It was my first time staying in Humble House Hotel at Taipei and I must say this is one of the best hotels that I have ever experienced in Taiwan. Humble House had generously invited and sponsored our stay for 7 days, in addition, my room was arranged right in-front of the incredible view of Taipei 101! I was really thrilled and felt grateful for such kind gestures from Humble House. I received excellent hospitality and can’t help but sing praises for the service team.


The hotel is situated just next to iconic Taipei 101 and surrounded by many popular department stores, night markets and Taipei World Trade Centre. It is also convenient to access transportation, just 40 minutes drive from Taoyuan airport to reach. There are lots of nice restaurants to eat, trendy places to do your shopping and even talented street performances to watch! Awesome entertaining activities to enjoy around the vicinity, how good is that? Or if you prefer a quiet place to read books, you can make a trip to visit the popular book store (成品书局).

Upon stepping in the hotel lobby, we were immediately greeted by the marketing team with the warmest welcome. The reception was very thoughtful to have arranged our rooms ready for us to take a rest as soon as possible after a long flight from Singapore. We are only required to do the usual registration procedures the next day, I was quite surprised with such detailed preparation.


In the morning we were led to the VIP area for our breakfast. The vibrant Italian restaurant at LaFarfalla offers a wide range of delicious food selection. After a good meal, I head over to the outdoor swimming pool for a swim, I like to swim in the morning and night to relax myself. The night scenery is especially beautiful with dazzling bright lights and tall buildings looking incredible, it felt like the city is filled with life and bustling energy. Apart from that, if you are a health-conscious person like me, you got to try the hotel’s gym, it is well-equipped and has a large space ideal for leisure work out.

When night falls, sip a few glasses of cocktails at the cozy bar at The Terrace. It is the perfect place exuding a romantic, relaxing and elegant vibe to wind down. They serve excellent drinks for guests to relish in this peaceful environment. Before turning to the bed, it’s not a bad idea to get a little tipsy. In conclusion, the stay here at Humble House is truly unforgettable, I will definitely be back here again.

My Banh Mi- Number 1 Baguette in Vietnam

I personally like food that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Vietnamese sandwich also known as baguette is one that fits all occasions. My Banh Mi offers the number one Banh Mi in Vietnam and has now landed in Singapore as the first outlet in Asia. Locals can get a taste of this unique sandwich that offers a range of healthy, flavorful and tasty selections.



My Banh Mi is also well known for it’s crispy yet soft baguette and their special home-made sauces that complements seamlessly. We arranged for a take-away and I expected the bread to lose it’s crispiness but surprisingly, the quality is still as good! You will know why after watching the video.

Lemongrass Chicken with Spicy Garlic Sauce
The tender marinated chicken is packed with lemongrass fragrance, pairing with the speciality spicy garlic sauce makes it even more tastier. This wholesome delicacy comes with a generous portion of coriander, shredded onions, red chilies and cucumber pieces. My favourite out of the rest.

Roasted Pork
Succulent roasted pork is dipped into a unique concoction of coconut juice, black pepper and garlic before serving. The meat has entirely absorbed the goodness exuding a special aroma. These 3 flavors blend together perfectly with the added creamy smoked roasted black pepper sauce, one bite and you can taste ‘heaven’.


Bun Thit Nuong Vietnamese Rice Noodles
This dish is commonly found in Vietnam but each brand has it’s own recipe. My Banh Mi created an incredibly delicious version of their own. The marinated pork is soft and juicy, a great combination with the rice noodles mixed with a wide variety of refreshing greens offering a better texture. The sweet-spicy special sauce served at the side forms a perfect match.

Feedbacks on Sothy Facial Products

As a public figure, I have to pay extra attention to my skin condition especially during my video filming. After trying Sothy’s latest products for a few months, I must say it’s amazing. 想健身先从【跑步】开始吧 ~

一直以来我都有在我的部落格分享一些我的健身心得但是还是很多网友问我为何我还能那么逍遥的尝尽天下美食却能保持着那么Fit的身形。还是那句老套的说:想健身先从「跑步」开始吧! 跑步是人的本能, 我相信大家都会害怕着同一个问题就是跑了短短不到1KM就已开始喘的不行了...所以我想说: 坚持真的很重要,刚开始跑步,最好选择慢跑,不要过于心急于看到成果,总有那么一天你也会像我一样有着Fit Fit的身形。


这里我也分享一些Tips给大家参考,跑步贵在于坚持, 虽然很简单却未必每个人能够做到持之以恒, 所以调整一下自己的心态尽量随性一点, 就比如选择一个自己比较喜欢跑步的环境,刚开始就根据自己的体格承受度来定制步速和距离, 千万不可好高骛远,逼自己第一次就跑个半死, 慢跑哪怕是一圈两圈也好, 最重要是让自己开始爱上跑步喜欢跑步适合自己才是最好的!

对我来说每一首歌背后都有着不同的意义,
我有情感也会失落也会有感觉,
有些时候总有那么一刻视乎会觉得自己感觉失了踪,
偶尔会想一个人太孤独了怎么办?
所以我对自己说生活绝对不能失去热情,
不然连爱的感觉也会随风而去,
我身边有太多爱我的家人与朋友,
所以我常常觉得自己真的很幸福~

生命中最想唱给家人的一首歌 【我的快乐时代】

这首MV是我在香港度假时拍摄的,当剪接师交给我看时,
心中突然涌出百感交集,
那是因为这几年我忙于拍摄及受邀出席一些大大小小的活动,
无论是台前还是幕后我都参与其中,
想说的事,工作已经占据了我的生活时间,
也因为这样, 也没能抽出太多时间陪伴在家人的身边...
就这样错过了许多与家人相处的时刻,
于是, 我决定给自己放个假, 充电充电

爱是个未知数的集合,这首【我的快乐时代】~
我想对我的家人说, 谢谢你们的陪伴与支持,
也很感恩这次有机会与我的家人拍摄这支MV,
对我的意义是非常大~

Zao Lek Lok Lok- Fried, Grilled, Boiled Skewered Buffet

‘Lok Lok’ is one of the most popular street food originated from Penang, Malaysia. It is actually a variety of skewered deep-fried food which consist of vegetable and meat and eaten with different types of gravy or soup. This unique culture has spread to Singapore since it is well-loved by many locals.

Nestled in Paya Lebar Kovan Community Centre, it has an outdoor buffet concept where you can dine at a breezy and comfortable environment without feeling too packed. Zao Lek Lok Lok will make you spoilt for choices as there are over 80 type of skewers ranging from deep-fried, boiling and grilling as well as 6 selections of soup base to choose from. They have Tom Yum, Laksa, Bak Kut Teh, Chicken broth, Satay and last but not least Ma La flavor all boiled from scratch without adding artificial flavorings.



I was quite worried about the deep-fried items at first because they are usually too oily and coated with a thick layer of fried batter, but I am amazed that the fried food here are not as such! It is the total opposite of what I have expected. Each of the ingredient is fried to an extremely crispy texture with a thin outer coating and they will only fry upon order to keep it hot. For fried and boiled items are hand-picked by yourself, but for grilled items the service crew will recommend some of the popular ones to give you a little surprise, that is what I like about eating here.

When cooked with the scrumptious soup base, the ingredients gradually releases it’s flavors, blending together with the soup and enhancing the taste to be of natural sweetness. It is not necessary to add other condiments such as chilli or soy sauce into your soup.

The restaurant has a great concept and hygienic practice, all ingredients are kept in the refrigerator to make sure the quality is retained and customers can relish on fresh servings. Other than that, there are fruits and ice cream for dessert after a heavy meal. Now I do not need to travel to Malaysia just to eat ‘Lok Lok’, I can conveniently bring my foodie kakis here to satisfy our cravings anytime!

My first song ‘ACTUALLY’- Composed by Billy Koh (许环良)

After months of hardwork, I can finally reveal the story of how this song ‘ACTUALLY’ came about on this 52nd Singapore National Day. This is a local song which conveys Singaporeans’ thoughts, a fun and catchy tune for the young and old to sing along together. Everything started when I had the opportunity to meet the renowned Asia top music producer Billy Koh (许环良) at an event. Billy Koh was a very friendly and down-to-earth person which we are able to hit off quite well. We were in the midst of chatting when he thought that my name Ashley rhymes with the word ‘Actually’, that is when he offered to write a song for me. I was extremely thrilled!

It has been 9 years ago since he had written a song for a Singaporean. He had groomed a handful of famous singers in the past like JJ Lin, Kit Chan and By2. It is such an honour to have a chance to work with the talented music producer.

Rewinding back to my first session of song recording with Billy Koh at Ocean Butterflies Music recording studio, everyone was feeling excited about how this song will turn out. The day’s experience was really enjoyable especially when surrounded with a group of music enthusiast. I get to learn a lot from them which makes the process more meaningful. The second song recording was at Taiwan, Billy Koh invited my team and I over to his frequent music studio in Taipei and we managed to finish the recording in half a day, I am very grateful and thankful to everyone who helped on that day.



We moved on to the filming of the MV with a group of amazing film production team, they are one of the best I have worked with. Additionally, thank you to the following people who supported this MV, you guys are great!

Segar @ Star- The Best Curry Fish Head in Town

Segar @ Star is a certified Halal home-grown brand offering delectable ‘Tze-Char' style comfort food with extraordinary taste. They are famous for their signature Curry Fish Head which caters to the general crowd. It is not easy to maintain the quality consistency for all 6 outlets but they did it as their restaurants are always seen with long queues, well-liked by many. There are a lot of ingredients restrictions for a Halal restaurant but yet Segar @Start managed to create a large selection of about 100 dishes that are widely popular.


Curry Fish Head 
Coconut is added but not too overwhelming, it is packed with aromatic spices and flavors containing more than 20 type of ingredients. The thickness of the curry is perfect! you can even drink it like soup or drizzle plentiful over white rice. If you prefer it to be more spicy, just ask for it, they know what to do.

Asam Curry Fish Head
Fresh fish head is used simmered with an abundance of condiments to create that sour, spicy and sweet taste of the sauce. The Asam Curry Fish Head is made up of more than 20 types of spices as well. A complex yet intriguing flavor which unknowingly hooks you for more.

Grandma Salted Egg Sotong
Not a fancy dish but taste incredibly delicious! Coated with thick salted egg sauce and stir-fried to a crunchy texture, the sotong are fresh cuts that are still chewy, giving a gratifying eating pleasure.

Cream Sauce Prawns
This cream sauce requires at least half an hour to prepare. The main ingredients used are butter and water mixed with various condiments. Tossed with red chilli padi adding a spicy kick, constant stir-frying is the key to getting the ideal texture of the sauce.

Mee Goreng
Although Mee Goreng is a common item that can be ordered in most places, over here the Mee Goreng is super addictive. The chef uses tomato sauce, home-made samba and chilli sauce and stir-fry till fragrant. Additionally the ‘wok hei’ plays the most important role in this dish, it is only complete with that.

Big Fish Small Fish Container Dining

Container dining is one of the hottest trend right now, especially when it has an instagrammable environment with lush greenery surrounding the area and food is great there as well. Big Fish Small Fish uniquely offers various type of fish and chips where you can choose to have a selection of fresh Dory, Yellow Fin, Red Tilapia, Sea Bass, Salmon or Red Snapper.

What makes them special is the variety of sauces they serve such as Cheese, Salted Egg, XO Mayo, Tartar Sauce and many others. The fish comes along with thinly-sliced crips that are fried till golden-brown, absolutely addictive when eaten with the sauces. If you are a big eater, there are also several add-ons to add to your order, you can either choose to have Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Crips, Calamari, Churros or Chocolate Lava Cake as dessert. Big Fish Small Fish is a casual yet chic restaurant where you can experience a different sensation of dining.



Shishamo Fish
Served hot to the table, it exudes an amazing fragrance. The shishamo fish is fried till crispy and has a perfect bite. What impressed me is the texture that is still smooth and kept slightly moist.

XO Shrimp
Coated with thick XO sauce, the shrimp has a special combination of taste, there is home-made coleslaw at the bottom of the bowl giving it a refreshing kick. The sauce is slightly too spicy for me but if you are a spice lover you are going to enjoy this one.

Salmon Fish and Chips
I had salmon out of the other fish choices, it is served generously with a thick cut. The batter wraps around the fish nicely, it is crispy on the outside yet not too thick. You can still taste the delicious fish fragrance although deep fried, the flakes are retained with adequate moisture.
