Shu Jiang Grilled Fish Brand Ambassador

No words can express how thankful I am to all the sponsors who have been supporting me throughout the years especially Shu Jiang Grilled Fish. They have two outlets currently, the second outlet is located at IMM. Their signature grilled fish is the best I have ever eaten. It's perfectly grilled to an exceptional crispy skin on the outside and soft moist flakes on the inside. It's impossible to miss this delicious speciality.

Over here I have a good news to share! Shu Jiang Grilled Fish has invited me as the brand ambassador. You will be given a 10% off upon flashing my fan card. I would  appreciate if you can help to vote for either design "A" or "B" or none.

Fan Card...

Satay@Aranda Country Club- Dine in a Kampong ambience

If you are looking for a serene place that comes with plentiful of food choices and a 24-hour prawn-fishing facility, Satay@Aranda Country Club would be an excellent hangout. Great for family gatherings, the unique eco-friendly environment complements very well with the surrounding ‘Kampong’ theme. Expect cooling breeze, irresistible satay fragrance drifting to you and lush greeneries while you dine here with spacious free seatings.

Signature Chicken
Grilled with marmite and honey, the meat is downright succulent and tender. Egg white is used to marinate for a few hours to achieve such a smooth texture. The chicken is unlike the usual, this is one of the best I have tasted. A seamless creation that I will always order more than 2 plates because it is just so addictive.

Special Brinjal in Chef Style
A simple but brilliant dish that you will never have thought of such a combination. The brinjal is first lightly fried to prevent loss of moisture, after which it is dressed with savoury topshell that is cooked with a variety of vegetables. I am surprised with how it turns out to be, the tasteless brinjal actually taste delectable when soaked with the flavorful gravy.

BBQ Sambal Stingray
There is definitely a ‘WOW’ factor in this BBQ Sambal Stingray. Not many places serve such thick stingray. The owner is surely generous! With their home-made chilli sauce, this hearty dish has an intense flavor of everything you would crave for. Spicy, sweet and sour.

Prawn Ball with Tofu in Sweet and Sour Sauce
I love how creative the chef is over here, he improvised our local delicacy to various version. An iconic dish only available at Satay@Aranda Country Club. Using in-house beancurd, it is fried to crispy on the outer layer and still soft on the inside. Drizzled with generous amount of chilli crab sauce and served with juicy prawns, the divine combination literally blew me off!

Le Le Pot (乐乐锅)- Quality Traditional Chinese Steamboat

They say having steamboat is the best time to interact, make new friends and create memories, that explains the reason why I like eating steamboat at least once a week. My previous post mentioned about our dinner at Le Le Pot (乐乐锅), a popular restaurant which will get you star-struck as the man behind (王艳宾) is a director cum actor himself. He invited us to his cozy dining place where it feels like a celebrity photo gallery the moment I stepped in. You might just find your favourite artiste in the numerous photo frames hung on the wall and start to reminisce the past films.

We had ala carte steamboat buffet and ordered the Coconut Chrysanthemum and Laksa soup out of the 8 different choices such as Herbal Chicken, Chicken, Vegetarian, Preserved Vegetable, Tom Yum and Hot & Spicy. There are 2 soups to choose per pot. Here is a sharing tip, pick a light and heavy soup base to complement different type of ingredients. Try not to have 2 heavy soup broths at the same time because it may be too overwhelming to the tastebuds. Soup is the soul of a steamboat, Le Le Pot offers not just flavourful broth but most importantly it doesn't make you thirsty after drinking.

Coconut Chrysanthemum is fragrant, light with a tinge of natural sweetness whereas Laksa has a tasty punch of spice with distinctive coconut aroma. I thought it was a perfect match to go with the fresh ingredients we ordered. We tried almost everything from meat, seafood, balls, noodles, vegetables, mushrooms to snacks. There are more than 80 premium selections to choose from! Other ala carte specialities like fish maw, abalone, Angus prime short ribs, sea urchin and many more are also available. Although they are not inclusive in the buffet but go ahead if you wish to feast like a king.

Season 2 Sing! China Lantern Festival Concert

On 15th of the lunar new year also known as the Lantern Festival, second season of Sing! China (第二季中国新歌声新加坡海选元宵音乐会) hosted a singing concert at iFly Singapore. I was invited by Eeva Productions 88.3FM as one of the VIP guests to grace this prestigious event.

I was first brought up to level 5 in the VIP room where I met Wang Yan Bin (王艳宾), an infamous director in Southeast Asia. It was such an honour to meet him in person, he was very friendly and an incredibly humble guy. Unexpectedly our conversation was endless, we hit it off quite fast and chatted till we are told to prepare for the iFly briefing session.

To those of you who doesn't know what iFly is, it is the world’s first largest themed wind tunnel for  indoor skydiving, spanning almost 5 storeys high. This is my first time trying out iFly and I was thrilled! Safety first, we were first dressed up in the right attire, goggle and helmet before we are allowed in. As VIP, I was given unlimited times to ‘fly’ but in the end I went in for 3 times only as we had to catch the Sing! China contestants’ performance. The whole experience was honestly fun and exciting! I even got a certificate at the end of the course. Those who haven't try should go for it once in a life time. I would definitely be back again.

Each of the contestants sang very well, as usual it is always a pleasure watching them sing on stage. I am proud of their passion to represent Singapore and to bring hope for the young talents out there. After the concert, we headed to LeLe Pot (乐乐锅) for a sumptuous dinner celebration with 美香姐,艳宾大哥 and some of the crew members. It was an exclusive experience as well as a perfect night spent to mark the end of the lunar new year.

Awesome live band at Wild J's Bistro

In the tranquil area of Punggol  there is a hidden jem named Wild J's Bistro where folks, especially music enthusiast love to gather here for drinks, enticing food and luxuriate in the live band atmosphere.

Helmed by the talented Jason Chung, the bistro serves as a perfect destination to unwind and sing your heart out with your favourite song. What I like about live band is  the interaction with others in the same space, making new friends and to sing along together. The ambience naturally changes to a more cheerful vibe. Choose from the old classics to the most trendy songs, you name it, they have it. The live band plays every Wednesday to Saturday 8pm to 12pm. If you like Cantonese song, head over every Wednesday to brighten up your mood, and if you are lucky enough you might catch a few popular singers there as well! For drivers fret not, there are ample parking slots here.

I was utterly impressed with the dishes at Wild J's Bistro. The chef behind this amazing menu is 刘馨雯 who was trained in Paris and Hong Kong for many years.

Grilled Pork Rack
The meat is grilled to a tender and juicy bite served medium well. Using US pork rack, it comes along with fruit salsa that refreshes your palate. It's definitely worth the waiting time!

Fish and Chips
This is one of the best beer battered fish and chips that I have eaten with such delectable texture. The black cod fish fillet is deep fried thoroughly to a crispy outer layer, it is a  satisfying feeling to break open a hot battered fish with steam rapidly rising above from the white chunky flakes that is still moist. Served with fries and tartar sauce at the side.

Fresh Clams
Seafood will not go wrong if cooked fresh, this plate of fresh clams hit the right mark with white wine, garlic shallots and a tinge of chili cream sauce. The sauce is delightfully thick and savory, a flavorful combination that you cannot stop eating.

Linguine Carbonara
There are various version of carbonara worldwide, I personally like Wild J's version very much. The linguine is Al Dente, tossed with generous onion, bacon and mushroom.
Cream is smooth, impeccable and addictive, it is not too thick but surprisingly fragrant.
