Steamboat and BBQ Buffet at Tan Yi Tan Restaurant

Seldom will you get both BBQ and Steamboat in the same restaurant, Tan Yi Tan BBQ Steamboat actually serves both! It's a really good concept that solves the problem of choosing which to go for.

You can choose from just the steamboat buffet, steamboat and BBQ buffet or Premium buffet. If you are wondering what "Tan Yi Tan" BBQ meant? it means "charcoal steamboat", (探一炭) in Mandarin. The restaurant insist on using charcoal grill even though it will take a slightly longer time to heat up but diners are able to taste the charcoal fragrance infused. It is definitely worth the wait.

Not to miss out the delicious steamboat selections, there are 7 flavorful type of soup bases to choose from such as Tonkotsu, Spicy Ma La, Tom yum, Pickled cabbage, Seafood and Wild Mushroom. The pot comes in a standard 2 soup bases (Yuan Yang) serving. I would highly recommend the Tonkotsu and Spicy Ma La for first timers. Both are signatures and best to bring out the taste of the ingredients and suitable to cater for spicy and non-spicy eaters.

I was impressed with the amount of quality ingredients at Tan Yi Tan. There are fresh scallop, crayfish, mussels, clams, octopus, prawns, fish etc. Meat choices of pork, lamb, beef and chicken are generously served as well. The fully air-conditioned environment allow you to eat at your comfort and on a side note, the bill will not burn a hole in your pocket.
