32 years of Hand-made Ban Mian

Ban Mian Mee Hoon Kway Hand-made noodles has a history of more than 32 years. I was their customer since 20 years ago when they had their first stall at Jurong West. Now they have prospered to 4 locations and the operation hour runs till late at night, definitely a good place for supper!

The main highlight, all of the noodles are made from scratch. In these days handmade noodles are difficult to get outside because it is time consuming and takes double the effort but the taste is remarkably better than those machine-made ones. This is the reason I have been patronising them for more than 20 years. There are 3 types of noodles to choose from, thin noodles (幼面), flat noodles (板面) and hand-torn noodles (面粉粿). The amount of dough and water is handled very well in order to produce such delicious and bouncy texture.

The soup served here is one that will make you crave for more, it is boiled for 8 hours to produce such robust, rich and tasty broth that is perfect with salted anchovy. Sesame oil and Chinese wine is added to enhance the flavor. Another home-made item that I must mention is the blended chilli made from 5 secret ingredients. Add some spice into your bowl of noodles for a gratifying taste.

Not forgetting the dry thin noodles, it is a newly introduced item that has a different chilli accompaniment made of dried shrimps, prawn paste and 3 other secret ingredients. Blend it well and Hola! You get an ultimate bowl of goodness.

What I am impressed with is the generous amount of ingredients such as prawns, meat balls, abalone and sliced abalone they serve at the right portion, especially the anchovies. They are fried till a seamless crispiness and not too salty, just nice to pair it with the noodles or you can even pack some home to eat it as a snack!
