Honggi BBQ 洪记烧烤 # Bangkok Thailand

With much anticipation I travelled all the way to the land of smiles, Bangkok Thailand for another mouth-watering food tasting adventure at Honggi BBQ restaurant when I received an invitation. Thailand is one of the top destinations for us Singaporeans to travel, shop and eat without burning a hole in the pocket. Honggi BBQ is known for their wide variety of fresh seafood and I have heard a lot about their signature salt-coated grilled fish.

Salt-coated Grilled Fish
If you have never eaten the salted coated fish before, you are seriously missing out something good. The fish is first coated with sea-salt and grilled above the charcoal heat. The cooking steps are as simple as that but the fish tastes amazing. The satisfying feeling when you flip over the skin showing the thick snow-white flakes is irresistible! It has a soft texture and the fragrance is an addiction.

Stirred Fried Crabs
The aroma of the sauce is the first thing that caught my attention, the dish looks really appetizing when served. It tasted like our local chilli crab but this has slightly more spices and eggs stir fried together. The crabs are plump and fresh!

Grilled Cockles
I have never eaten such huge cockles before, they are aromatic, juicy and definitely more meaty. They are grilled and filled with flavorsome concession of condiments. Served fresh and with a tinge of sweetness, but the cockles doesn't taste as rich as the smaller cockles. If you prefer those with a stronger taste it’s better to go for the smaller sized ones, anyway it is still a good experience to try something new!
